Why is KCR angry over Modi remark on bifurcation?

Former Congress MP from Rajahmundry Vundavalli Arun Kumar on Friday expressed surprise over the anger of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the comments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the unscientific bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

Vundavalli, who was one of the Congress MPs who strongly resisted the bifurcation, wondered why there was so much agitation in Telangana over Modi’s comments.

“Will KCR agree that the bifurcation of combined state was done as per the rules and procedures of parliament?” he asked.

He told media that KCR should, in fact, raise his voice over the injustice done to Andhra Pradesh during the bifurcation.

“It has to join hands with Andhra Pradesh to pull up the BJP government at the Centre for not fulfilling the promises made to AP post-bifurcation,” he said.

The former MP said the Prime Minister, as well as Union home minister Amit Shah had talked about injustice done to AP during the bifurcation in Parliament long ago.

“But KCR is agitated as if they are speaking something new,” he criticised.

He reminded that he had filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the bifurcation in 2013 itself and another petition after bifurcation.

“The issue is still pending in the court. The Andhra Pradesh government should file an affidavit in the apex court at least now,” he urged.

Vundavalli also demanded that the YSR Congress MPs should demand for a discussion on AP bifurcation in Parliament.

“At least now, the political parties in Andhra Pradesh should initiate a debate all over the state. The chief minister should start a mail and invite opinions from the people on the bifurcation,” he said.

He wondered whether TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would compromise on the interests of Andhra Pradesh, while fighting with each other.

“They should fight together to secure maximum funds from the Centre. It is unfortunate that Jagan has remained silent on the debate over Modi’s remarks on state bifurcation,” Vundavalli regretted.
