Till last week, there were leaks in the media quoting Jana Sena Party sources that megastar Chiranjeevi will campaign for his younger brother Pawan Kalyan in Pithapuram from May 5 to 8.
There were reports that Chiranjeevi would take a break from his shooting for his upcoming film – Vishwambhara to take part in roadshows and address a couple of rallies in Pithapuram in support of Pawan Kalyan.
There was also a talk that the megastar might also campaign for his friend and BJP candidate for Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat C M Ramesh and also Jana Sena Party candidate from Pendurthi Panchakarla Ramesh.
But till now, there has been no such move from Chiranjeevi and the Jana Sena Party chief has been going ahead with his own campaign programmes, addressing joint rallies with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, besides attending the public meetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.
On Tuesday, Chiranjeevi issued a video statement, making an appeal to the people of Pithapuram to vote for his younger brother and listen to his voice in the legislative assembly.
“He will stand by you as a servant, soldier and brother and fight to fulfil your dreams,” he said.
In his emotional appeal, the megastar said Pawan Kalyan had the mindset of thinking more about the people than himself. He might have entered the film industry forcibly, but had chosen politics out of interest.
“Though he is last of our brothers, he is always in the forefront to do good for the people,” he said.
Stating that any leader wants to come to power to do something good for the people, Chiranjeevi said Pawan Kalyan had spent his hard-earned money on families of tenant farmers, helped fishermen and donated big amounts to the soldiers.
“He is the kind of leader who people should elect to serve them,” the megastar said, adding that Pawan Kalyan had become a Jana Sainik for the sake of people and was doing what he firmly believed in.
The statement from Chiranjeevi clearly showed that he is not going to campaign for his brother.
In fact, there was also a talk that he might do a one-day campaign for Pawan Kalyan on May 10 and that in the process, he might even meet TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at Novotel Hotel in Vijayawada.
But after the programme got leaked to the media, Chiranjeevi dropped the idea of campaign and confined himself to issuing a video statement in support of Pawan Kalyan, sources said.
