The remarks made by former YSR Congress Party general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy - stating that he left the party due to a coterie surrounding party president and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy - continue to stir controversy within the party.
Sai Reddy also revealed that he was forced to quit after realizing that he had no place in Jagan’s heart.
"I have no love lost for Jagan, so there is no question of returning to the party," he asserted.
Reacting sharply to Sai Reddy’s comments, YSRCP leader and former minister Gudivada Amarnath, who was once a close associate of Sai Reddy, dismissed his claims, stating that every political party president has a group of loyalists around him.
"For that matter, doesn’t Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu have his own coterie? Tell me, which political party doesn’t? In fact, for Jagan Mohan Reddy, the people are his coterie," Amarnath said.
He pointed out that Sai Reddy himself had been part of Jagan’s inner circle until recently.
"Is it appropriate for him to talk about a coterie around the party president? Would he have said the same thing if Jagan had retained power in 2024?" he questioned.
Amarnath further noted that Sai Reddy’s statements had changed significantly after his visit to New Delhi, where he submitted his resignation.
He pointed out the inconsistencies between Sai Reddy’s statements in Delhi and Vijayawada, suggesting that his actions were driven by political maneuvering rather than genuine concerns about corruption.
"He says he has 'love lost' for Jagan. But one only loses love for someone when they start loving another person. We don’t know who that other person is," Amarnath remarked, hinting at possible political realignments in the future.
