Why did Pawan apologise on Tirupati stampede?

Jana Sena Party president and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan issued an open apology to the people of Andhra Pradesh and the entire Hindu community for the death of six devotees in a stampede at Tirupati during the issuance of Vaikuntha Ekadasi tokens on Wednesday night.

On Friday, Pawan Kalyan explained why he felt compelled to apologize on behalf of the government.

“The people voted for the NDA in the elections, trusting N Chandrababu Naidu's leadership. One must have the virtue of responding when something goes wrong,” he said.

Emphasizing that any mistake is a collective responsibility of the state cabinet, Pawan Kalyan added, “That’s why I responded to the Tirupati stampede incident and sincerely apologized. One must know when and where to respond.”

He stated that whether it is an employee or an officer, everyone must fulfill their duties diligently.

“If everyone does their job properly, such incidents wouldn’t occur. Due to the mistakes of a few, the entire district police machinery faces the consequences,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister also noted that even the Prime Minister of Japan had once apologized for a mistake he did not commit.

“The TTD Chairman and members should hold a press conference and apologize. When I can apologize, why should you hesitate? If you claim it’s not your fault, then how is it mine? Should I alone be held responsible?” he questioned.
