For the last few weeks, some YSR Congress party leaders are going on foreign tours for various reasons.
Some of them were forced to approach the courts seeking permission to travel because of the cases pending against them.
On Saturday, senior YSRCP leader and former MLA from Macherla assembly constituency Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy approached the Andhra Pradesh high court, seeking permission to go abroad and hence wanted his passport to be restored.
On behalf of Pinnelli, his lawyer Rama Laxman Reddy submitted a petition in the high court saying the former MLA was planning to go to Singapore to accompany his son who is going there for higher studies. He submitted all the details of his client’s travel.
“Pinnelli has to get his son admitted in the university in Singapore and make all arrangements for his son’s accommodation and other facilities. So, he needs the court permission to go to Singapore,” the lawyer said.
The counsel for the police sought some time to file a counter. The court deferred the case to October 28 for further arguments.
Pinnelli is facing the charges of destruction of electronic voting machine and the VVPAT machine at Palwaigate polling booth in Macherla on the day of polling on May 13, besides assaulting a TDP workers and also a police inspector the following day at Rentachintala.
The YSRCP leader was subsequently arrested and later released from jail on a conditional bail. On this occasion, the police had seized his passport.
Interestingly, on Wednesday, another senior YSR Congress party leader and Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy also submitted a petition in the CBI special court in Hyderabad, seeking permission to go to Japan for a week on a holiday from October 26 to November 2.
Avinash has been on anticipatory bail in connection with the case related to the murder of his uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
The court has already given strict orders prohibiting Avinash Reddy not to leave the country under any circumstances till the court gives its verdict in the murder case.
Though Avinash moved the high court seeking relaxation of conditions imposed on his anticipatory bail, it did not entertain his request and asked him to file a petition in the trial court itself. As a result, the Kadapa MP filed the petition in the CBI court seeking permission for his Japan tour.
A few days ago, YSRCP general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy also flew down to Indonesian capital Bali in the name of spending vacation.
As soon as he returned to New Delhi, he was detained there and served a lookout notice on him, in connection with a case pertaining to attack on the TDP office at Mangalagiri in 2021. He was later grilled by the police.
Last month, YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy also moved the special court for CBI cases seeking permission from the court to go abroad. They needed court permission because of the pending CBI and ED cases against them.
While Jagan wanted to go to London to spend some time with his daughters, Sai Reddy wanted to travel European countries in September and October. The court granted them permissions.
Jagan could not go and dropped his plan because of the floods and other passport related issues. Sai Reddy also stayed back for other personal reasons.
