Remember Sadineni Yamini, the firebrand leader who played a very active role in the Telugu Desam Party before 2019 elections participating in the television debates and campaigning in the social media?
After the TDP faced a humiliating defeat in the elections, Yamini quietly defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party and even accused TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh of being responsible for the sorry state of affairs in the TDP.
Interestingly, as long as she was in the TDP, she projected her Kamma identity by highlighting her surname. However, she is originally a Brahmin married to a Kamma. So, when she was in the TDP, she used her husband’s surname.
But after she joined the BJP, she started sporting her maiden suffix Sharma and claiming herself to be Yamini Sharma.
She also became active in Brahmin social media groups and began fighting for the cause of Brahmins and Hinduism, apparently in tune with the BJP ideology.
Despite her suffix and new identity, Yamini has not the kind of recognition and importance she had expected in the BJP. Except an odd statement, nothing much is heard from her in the recent past.
During the ongoing electioneering in Tirupati parliamentary constituency, if was expected that Yamini would be entrusted with the task of attracting Brahmin community, which has considerable vote bank in Tirupati town.
But the party did not bother to involve her in the campaign, despite the fact that she has good oratorical skills and the capacity to attract voters. Apparently, the state BJP leaders did not want anybody to dominate them in the campaign.
Thought the state BJP leaders brought a film actress, who also defected from the TDP to the BJP recently for the campaign, she reportedly spent most of the time in praising Pawan Kalyan of Jana Sena, rather than highlighting the strengths of the BJP candidate.
It is learnt Sadineni Yamini is terribly upset with the BJP leadership, but has little to do except waiting for an opportunity.
