What Jagan Decided Yesterday, Nation Decides Today

“What we do today, the nation should do tomorrow.”  This was what Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy told the officials after he assumed charge as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on May 30, 2019.

He did several such things in the last two years, making the rest of the nation to follow.

The latest is giving priority to the second dose scheduled persons in the Covid 19 vaccination drive in the country.

It was on Monday, Jagan Mohan Reddy government decided to stop the first doses of the vaccine and given priority to the second doses.

While expressing concern over the non-availability of the doses, his government took the decision, stopped all first doses.

Two days later, the Central government had decided to stop the first doses across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had told the chief ministers of all States in the country to stop first doses and give preference to the second dosses and thus complete at least one round.

Though the Prime Minister had given a call to the chief ministers to give vaccine to all people above the age of 18 years, it was Jagan Mohan Reddy who said that the call is not practical.

The Central government had now realised that giving vaccine to all above 18 years is not possible due to the unavailable quantity of the vaccine.

Besides the vaccine, there are several other issues, including the volunteers system, the village and ward secretariats, Nadu-Nedu and 75 per cent reservation in jobs for the locals in industries, which were decided by Jagan first and later considered by other chief ministers in their states.
