Welfare schemes: Jagan tries to corner Naidu

After failing to gain traction among the public by raising concerns about the failure of law and order in Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress Party president and former chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has shifted his focus to cornering Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the implementation of welfare schemes promised before the elections.

Jagan took to X to question Naidu for attempting to evade the implementation of pre-election promises under the pretext of a financial crisis.

During the elections, Naidu took responsibility for the state, promising to create wealth and manage the state's ₹14 lakh crore debt.

"Now, Naidu is betraying the people by shifting the responsibility onto them. He issued misleading white papers to deceive the public, claiming that the state treasury was empty and that there were no funds to pay off debts," Jagan said.

Jagan also pointed out that several welfare schemes, including Amma Vodi, Rythu Bharosa, Vasathi Deevena, interest-free loans, fee reimbursement, unemployment allowance, and pensions, have been neglected under Naidu’s administration.

"There is no action regarding crucial schemes like Arogyasri, pension deliveries, and home ration supplies," he added.

Furthermore, Jagan accused Naidu of undermining important educational initiatives, such as the TOEFL period in schools and the distribution of educational kits, as well as neglecting essential services like the midday meal scheme, English as the medium of instruction, and sanitation in schools and villages.

He also questioned Naidu’s promises of job creation, financial assistance for fishermen, and the implementation of other schemes, which remain unfulfilled.
