The recent surveys conducted by a couple of national media houses predicting massive victory for the YSR Congress party in the Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh has become a big morale booster for the party leaders and cadre.
While Republic TV predicted that the YSRC would get 20 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, Times Now channel went a step ahead and predicted that the party would win 23 MP seats, leaving the remaining two to the Telugu Desam Party.
Naturally, Sakshi media house, promoted by YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy went ga ga over these surveys and carried them prominently, creating a lot of confidence among the party leaders.
But analysts say Jagan should not get carried away by these surveys and become complacent over his party’s victory in the elections.
The reasons are simple: these channels have been pro-Narendra Modi, which is a known fact, and naturally, they would not like to give even a smallest edge to the TDP headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Moreover, these channels have already been treating the YSRC as their potential ally. So, they might be trying to pamper Jagan to become a partner in the NDA by giving him a favourable report.
Secondly, it is not always correct on the part of Jagan to underestimate Naidu while overestimating his own strength.
A season and shrewd politician like Naidu would not allow the power to slip from his hands just like that and he would go all out to retain power at least for another term.
Naidu knows if he loses power this time, he might not be able to return to power again.
Moreover, it is difficult to match Naidu in poll-management and he will pull all the stops to win the elections by hook or crook. So, Jagan has to be wary of Naidu’s tricks.
And lastly, there is a Pawan Kalyan factor, which might play spoilsport with the prospects of the YSRC in several constituencies. It cannot be ignored just like that.

The figures provided by these surveys might be very attractive to Jagan, but analysts say the TDP might not fare so badly.
In constituencies like Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Guntur, Narsaraopet, Hindupur and Anantapur, the TDP is still very strong.
Even in the worst case, the TDP might win not less than six to eight MP seats in the present circumstances. And Jagan has to work really harder to win these seats to wipe out the TDP.
So, it is always better for Jagan to believe in his own strength and strategies, rather than going by the surveys. If he really enjoys the people’s support, nobody can stop his juggernaut!
