Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who defected from the TDP into the YSRC, fired at his ex-boss and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu for opposing the direct cash transfer to farmers towards power subsidy.
Speaking to media in Vijayawada on Monday, Vamsi wondered how an experienced leader like Chandrababu Naidu could make such a meaningless criticism on the direct cash transfer to farmers.
“He had been an MLA since I was in school days. But now, he is talking like his on Nara Lokesh. How can he say that the direct cash transfer scheme would result in dilution of free power supply scheme?” the Gannavaram MLA asked.
He pointed out that the Jagan government had made arrangement for providing free power supply to farmers for 30 years.
“In the past, NTR had come to the rescue of farmers by providing power for Rs 50 per horse power. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy revived the agriculture sector by introducing free power to farmers. During Naidu regime, power tariff was increased abnormally leading to Basheerbagh firing and he had lost power because of high power tariff,” Vamsi pointed out.
He said while Naidu had lost his mental balance, Lokesh was not able to press the accelerator and change the gear of the TDP.
“Nothing will happen to the free power supply scheme. The farmers will get the power bill amount in their accounts directly, as is the case with pensions and salaries,” the defected MLA said.
