On Friday, the sulking former minister of YSR Congress, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, asked the party leadership to take action against his critics in his Prakasam district.
During a media conference, Balineni stated that some leaders within the party were damaging his reputation. He alleged that the party's top leadership had remained silent regarding these anti-party activities and demanded action.
Earlier this week, Balineni met with Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, where he reportedly explained the reasons for his silence.
He had been quiet for some time and had even resigned from the post of regional coordinator covering Prakasam, Nellore, and Kadapa districts.
Although he claimed that he resigned for health reasons, sources suggest that he did not want to move out of Prakasam district and lose control over party affairs.
Balineni is upset with the chief minister for dropping him from the cabinet and continuing Adimulapu Suresh much against his wishes. He believes that Suresh is working against him in district politics and damaging his reputation.
However, sources say that Balineni had received an offer from the opposition TDP to contest as Ongole MP. While it is unclear whether he is interested in going to Parliament, sources suggest that the TDP gave him an open offer.
In 2016, Balineni was welcomed into the TDP along with 23 MLAs and three MPs who crossed the fence. He continues to maintain a relationship with the TDP and keeps the offer intact.
