Strange are the ways of former Congress MP and self-styled intellectual Vundavalli Arun Kumar. Nobody knows when he praises Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy or when he criticizes with strongest words.
It was only a few weeks ago that Vundavalli lavished praises on Jagan, stating that he had ensured flow of money in the hands of the poor people by implementing welfare schemes during the Coronavirus pandemic.
He even declared before the media that Jagan is still a preferred choice for the people of the state and his popularity has not come down at all. There is no better choice for the people.
“As long as he continues to implement the welfare schemes, there is no threat to him and his party. The freebies he has been giving to the people have consolidated his vote bank. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, he did not stop any welfare schemes,” he said.
But on Friday, Vundavalli changed his tune once again. He described Jagan a businessman, rather than an administrator, who is gambling with the people of the state.
He even went to the extent of saying that Jagan is implementing his “quid pro quo” policy in the state.
“On one hand, he is giving money to the people in the name of welfare schemes. On the other, he is fleecing money from the people by increasing taxes,” he alleged.
Vundavalli said Jagan had no foresight on power supply.
“Earlier, the state was power surplus. But now, the system has been completely ruined. While Telangana has become power surplus, Andhra is facing power crisis, forcing the government to indulge in power cuts. God knows how many years it will take for the state to come out of the power crisis,” he said.
On the welfare schemes, too, the former MP said one won’t be able to tell how long Jagan would transfer money into the accounts of the beneficiaries by click of the mouse.
“Nobody can tell what Jagan is doing is wrong. He doesn’t listen to anyone. There is no financial management in Andhra. If Jagan thinks people would vote for him because he is paying them money, it is not correct,” he said.
