The Telangana high court on Monday granted bail to Devireddy Shivashankar Reddy, a close aide of YSR Congress party MP from Kadapa Y S Avinash Reddy, in connection with the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy five years ago.
Shivashankar Reddy was arrested in November 2021, after the CBI filed a charge sheet suspecting him to be one of the conspirators for the murder of Viveka. At present, Shivashankar Reddy is lodged in Chanchalguda jail.
While granting him bail on several conditions, the high court asked him to submit two sureties of Rs 2 lakh each. The court also asked him to surrender his passport and appear before the Central Crime Station police of Hyderabad every Monday.
While asking him not to leave Hyderabad, the high court directed him not to enter Andhra Pradesh under any circumstances. In all probability, Devireddy might be released from jail on Tuesday.
The CBI has already named Erra Gangireddy, former follower and dairy trader Gajjala Umashankar Reddy, Sunil Yadav and ex-driver Dastagiri as the prime accused in the case, as the prime suspects in the murder.
