Viveka: CBI seeks narco-analysis test for Devireddy

In yet another turn to the sensational murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy, uncle of CP CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday sought to conduct narco-analysis tests on Devireddy Shiv Shankar Reddy, one of the prime accused in the case.

The CBI filed a petition in the special court at Pulivendula to this effect.

Shiv Shankar Reddy, a close aide of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy and also a general secretary of the YSR Congress party, was arrested last month in connection with the Viveka murder case.

The court admitted the petition submitted by the CBI and would give permission for the same after taking the consent of Devireddy, who has been at present in judicial remand in Kadapa jail.

Meanwhile, the Kadapa court will pronounce its judgement soon on the bail petitions filed by Devireddy and another accused Umashankar Reddy.

It may be recalled that Devireddy, who was undergoing treatment in Hyderabad, was arrested by the CBI sleuths based on the confession statement given by Viveka’s former driver Dastagiri. However, Devireddy claimed that he was being deliberately implicated in the case.

He alleged that Viveka’s daughter Sunitha, her husband and others, in collusion with Andhra Jyothy managing director V Radhakrishna, were conspiring against Avinsh Reddy and his associates.

Devireddy alleged that Sunitha had been misleading the investigators by making baseless allegations. Vivekha’s wife Sowbhagyamma was regularly meeting the CBI officials to implicate high profile people.

He pointed out that it was Sunitha and her husband Rajasekhar Reddy, who got bail for Dastagiri within five days by engaging an advocate.
