The simmering rebellion within the YSR Congress party in Gannavaram assembly constituency in NTR district has erupted once again with the party leaders strongly opposing local MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, deciding to approach the party high command to appoint a new in-charge for the party in the constituency.
Vamsi, who defected from the Telugu Desam Party to the YSRC soon after the 2019 assembly elections, is facing a stiff resistance from the party leaders and cadre led by Yarlagadda Venkat Rao, who unsuccessfully contested against Vamsi in the last elections.
The disgruntlement among the party loyalists has been surfacing occasionally at every public and party functions.
Now, the party leaders have decided to send a strong message to the party leadership that they would not tolerate if Vamsi is given the party ticket in the next elections.
The rebel party leaders have put up flex boards all over Gannavaram demanding a new in-charge for the YSRC in Gannavaram.
“It is a festival in our house. Let us celebrate on our own. Let us not give the chance to an outsider,” the flex boards said.
On Wednesday, when the YSRC is taking up the door-to-door campaign to take the state government’s welfare schemes to the people, the party leaders of Gannavaram have given a “Chalo Tadepalli” call to the cadre, opposing the appointment of Vamsi as the party in-charge of Gannavaram.
The party leaders are planning to take out a bkie rally from Gannavaram to YSRC central office at Tadepalli. However, the party leadership is learnt to have taken this revolt seriously.
Several rebel leaders opposing Vamsi’s leadership in Gannavaram were taken into custody by the local police. Yet, the Gannavaral rebel YSRC leaders have announced that they would make Chalo Tadepalli programme a big success.
