YSR Congress Party legal cell state president Manohar Reddy on Friday strongly condemned the Chandrababu Naidu-led government's misuse of the police force for political vendetta against former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
Speaking to reporters, Manohar Reddy stated that Vamsi’s arrest exposed a malicious conspiracy, with the police being used as a tool for political revenge.
He cited the case of Vallabhaneni Vamsi, highlighting that his family received the FIR copy only after his arrest and court appearance, clearly indicating an attempt to ensure Vamsi’s custody without immediate legal recourse.
Manohar Reddy accused TDP leaders of dictating the police on whom to arrest, how to investigate, what charges to impose, and even selecting witnesses.
He warned that failure to uphold the constitutional principles enshrined in the Red Book will inevitably lead to public outrage.
He also pointed to a recent incident where the High Court expressed strong displeasure over the authorities’ handling of CCTV footage.
The police attempted to present a false narrative in court, claiming the footage was damaged by monkeys—an explanation the court refused to accept.
Despite judicial reprimands, the police have not changed their approach, Manohar Reddy said. He warned that filing false cases would eventually backfire on the police.
Reminding them that power is never permanent, he urged the authorities to act within the bounds of the law.
