Ever since he defected from Telugu Desam Party to Bharatiya Janata Party in June, Rajya Sabha member Y S Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary has been extremely careful in making any comment against his former boss and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
For, Sujana Chowdary owes his political career to Naidu and everybody is aware that he had defected to the BJP only to avoid being targeted by central investigation agencies like CBI and Income Tax department for his alleged illegal business dealings.
In fact, there were even reports that Naidu himself had sent Sujana and another industrialist-turned-politician C M Ramesh into the BJP in order to save him from the central investigations.
Though all the other BJP leaders continue to criticise Naidu, Sujana has been deliberately avoiding making critical comments against his ex-boss.
But there will be times when he has to make some criticism on the TDP and Naidu, at least mildly, for the sake of public consumption to prove that he is in a different party now.
So, now and then, Sujana has also started talking critical against Naidu.
On Wednesday, the BJP Rajya Sabha member found fault with Naidu for continuing to stay in his rented residence at Vundavalli, though the government declared it as illegal.
“It is not Naidu’s permanent house. He is there only as a tenant. The dispute over whether it is legal or illegal is between the owner and the government. How is a tenant bothered about it? When the government declares it as an illegal, Naidu has to vacate the house immediately. Why should he continue to stay there and make an issue out of it?” Sujana asked.
Though it appeared like a criticism, Sujana was more or less giving an advice to Naidu to vacate the house which is in litigation, since it will not fetch any mileage to him.
