Three women have become a major headache for the TDP, causing political damage and sparking anger among party elders.
Kadapa MLA R Madhavi Reddy, Allagadda MLA Bhuma Akhila Priya Reddy and Chandragiri MLA wife Satimani Pulivarthi Sudha Reddy are at the center of the controversy.
Bhuma Akhila Priya, though younger than the others, is politically senior. She believes political aggression will raise her popularity, but party leaders disagree, warning that her actions are sending the wrong signals to voters. Akhila Priya’s interference, in the matters of businesses like liquor shops even within her own party, has led to numerous complaints to the TDP leadership, claiming her behavior is harming the party.
R Madhavi Reddy has also faced criticism in Kadapa, where accusations are surfacing about his involvement in controversies and scams. Her failure to condemn an attack on Kadapa TDP city president Sivakonda Reddy has damaged her reputation and also indicating some suspicions on her.
Finally, Sudha Reddy, the wife of Chandragiri MLA Nani, wields significant power, leading to complaints about her influence in local affairs. It is noteworthy that TDP cadres claim Sudha Reddy must give approval for anyone wanting to engage in activities in Chandragiri, whether it be in the sand, liquor business, or land disputes. Revenue and police officials in the constituency, speaking off the record to media representatives, suggest that Sudha Reddy is issuing orders as if she considers herself the empress of the Chandragiri region.
TDP ranks are concerned that instead of uplifting women in politics, these leaders are harming the party’s image. The party’s leadership must decide how to handle these issues.
