Whenever YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy calls for a meeting of party MLAs and senior functionaries to review their performance, it creates a tense situation for them.
For, Jagan does not mince words in pointing out the lapses on the part of the MLAs while analysing their performance.
He would also not hesitate to declare that he would be denying tickets to non-performing MLAs, if they do not improve their performance.
On Wednesday, too, Jagan called for a review of the performance of the MLAs vis-à-vis their participation in the Gadapa Gadapaku Prabhutvam programme.
According to party sources, the chief minister reportedly told the MLAs that at least 18 MLAs fared badly and indicated that he might not give them tickets in the next elections.
“I shall send the survey reports to each of them personally and then talk to them individually. If they do not improve their performance, there is no question of giving them party tickets to fight the next elections,” Jagan told them.
According to sources close to party circles, among these 18 MLAs, there are at least three former ministers. They are: Kodali Nani, Perni Nani and Anil Kumar Yadav, who do not stand winning chances in the next elections.
Interestingly, these three ex-ministers are always in the forefront in attacking Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minster N Chandrababu Naidu and his party leaders, besides Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan.
They played a major role in making the meetings of Jagan in their respective constituencies by mobilising huge crowds and making massive arrangements. Yet, they have fallen off the good books of Jagan in terms of performance.
Apparently, Jagan is said to be of the view that these former ministers and other MLAs would not be able to shift loyalties to other parties, as they are highly vocal in criticising the opposition leaders. They have no option but to stay back with the YSRC.
If they continue to be loyal to the party, Jagan might consider giving them other posts after his return to power in the next elections, sources added.
