Former Telugu Desam Party MP from Anantapur J C Diwakar Reddy and his younger brother – former MLA of Tadipatri J C Prabhakar Reddy are known for their straight talk. They don’t mince words even when they want to make harsh comments against their own party.
On Saturday, Prabhakar Reddy, who is presently the chairman of Tadipatri municipality, made an explosive statement that the TDP will not win the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, if they are held now.
“The TDP will definitely lose the assembly elections again, if they are held immediately. The party cadre is completely demoralised and it has no faith on the party leaders in many of the assembly constituencies in the state,” junior JC said.
Stating that the TDP would have to face further debacles, if party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu does not wake up to the reality, Prabhakar Reddy suggested that there was a need to change the party candidates in many of the constituencies.
Apparently, the Tadipatri municipal chairman made this statement as he was angry with former minister Kalva Srinivasulu from Anantapur district.
He alleged that Srinivasulu was taking unilateral decisions without consulting any other party leaders including seniors.
Reacting to the TDP meeting convened by Srinivasulu at Kamma Bhavan in Anantapur on the Rayalaseema waters issue, Prabhakar Reddy said no senior was taken into confidence before holding the meeting. He walked out of the meeting in protest against Srinivasulu’s hegemonic attitude.
He demanded that the party should call for a meeting of the workers to discuss the state of affairs in the party.
“Otherwise, they would have to hold their own meeting. Not a single leader from the party called on the workers who were implicated in various cases. How many of them were given tickets in the local body elections?” he asked.
Prabhakar Reddy said it was time Naidu woke up and set the things right in the party.
“There are leaders who are not in a position to make even a press statement when Lokesh was arrested. This is not good for the party, which wants to see Chandrababu Naidu back in the chief minister’s seat,” he added.
