TDP Plans State Bandh On Dec 28

At a time when the YSR Congress party is planning to host a massive civic reception to YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam on December 28, the Telugu Desam Party is planning to kick up huge protests in Amaravati region.

Former minister and senior TDP leader Prathipati Pulla Rao said that the people of Amaravati were patiently waiting for the state cabinet meeting to take a decision on the capital issue.

“We are hopeful that the government would reconsider its proposal and continue Amaravati as the state capital. If it goes ahead with its plan to divide the capital into three, it would trigger massive unrest in the state,” he said.

He announced that the TDP would call for a state shutdown on Saturday (December 28), if the cabinet takes a decision to shift the executive capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam.

“It is unfortunate that the YSRC government is humiliating the farmers who had sacrificed their lands for the capital. If the government has any doubts over the alleged irregularities in the land pooling, it can order a judicial inquiry,” Rao said.
