After prolonged deliberations, Telugu Desam Party on Monday decided to attend the short budget session of Andhra Pradesh state assembly and legislative council commencing on Monday.
As of now, the session will be only for two days, but it is left to the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to take the final decision whether to restrict the session to only two days or extend till Saturday.
The legislature party meeting of the TDP which was held in Amaravati under the auspices of party president N Chandrababu Naidu for a long time, discussed at length as to whether the party should attend the budget session or not.
After prolonged deliberations, it was decided that the TDP members should attend the assembly session by wearing black shirts to register their protest against alleged false cases against the party leaders and their arrests.
Many MLAs reportedly suggested to Naidu that they should not attend the budget sessions but some others said they should attend.
It was felt that if the TDP abstains from the budget session, there is a possibility that the ruling YSR Congress party might get some crucial bills passed in the legislative council.
So, after a lot of deliberations, Naidu decided that the MLAs attend the budget session. If necessary, the party could walk out from the debates to register protest, the TDLP felt.
By and large, the TDP decided to make use of the assembly session to register their protests against the attacks, arrests and harassment.
