These days, the opposition TDP is making big issue of the Anna Canteens in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP leaders are opening Anna Canteens offering food at the lowest price.
The TDP leaders are putting up shamiyanas (make-shift pandals) and serving the food. This happened even in Kuppam which is represented by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
In some places, they are putting up tents in the municipal sites to run these canteens.
The TDP is making tall claims about these canteens. But the fact is that when did the TDP open these canteens and how many canteens were operated?
The TDP started these canteens in the middle of 2018 and not from 2014. Even in 2018 too, hardly 600 canteens were opened across the state.
If the TDP was so particular about these canteens, why did they not continued even after the 2019 elections, as they are doing now?
Why did they wait till 2022, 18 months before the next general elections, to open these canteens?
How many canteens are opened and why are they encroaching upon the public places?
All the high drama on Anna canteens is a clear publicity stunt by the TDP leaders. There are hardly a dozen canteens opened and operated in the state right now.
But the campaign is as if they have at least a 50 canteens in every Assembly constituency in the state.
Even the yellow media is also giving priority to the issues related to the Anna canteens as if they have been in operational since the inception of the TDP or at least from 2014.
This is how the yellow party and the yellow media make issues out of non-issues, to mislead the people for political gains.
