Polling for the Nellore Municipal Corporation elections is going to be held In another three days.
While YSR Congress party is confident of bagging the corporation with comfortable majority, the opposition Telugu Desam Party, too, is sweating it out to prove its existence in the city.
The YSRC, as usual, is spending money lavishly to win the corporation and see that the TDP gets wiped out.
Being the ruling party, mobilising monetary resources is not a big issue for the party, as there are several big business houses which contribute to its election fund.
But what is interesting is that a prominent leader of the TDP has also been providing funds to the YSRC.
According to sources, this leader has been running a chain of educational institutions and played a key role in the cabinet of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu when the latter was the chief minister.
Ever since the TDP lost power, this gentleman has been keeping away from the TDP activities and maintaining silence in politics. He is focussing completely on his educational institutions.
Sources said this TDP leader is understood to have provided a few crore rupees to the ruling YSRC candidates in the Nellore municipal corporation elections.
Naturally, the local TDP leaders are angry with him. They question how this gentleman who had enjoyed good positions when the TDP was in power, can donate party fund to the YSRC to defeat his own party candidates.
But he has no option, if he has to sustain his business. He knows he won’t get anything if he funds the TDP in the municipal corporation elections. Instead, he might have to wind up his business houses including the educational institutions.
He is requesting the TDP leaders to understand his predicament. After all, he cannot antagonise the party in power, if he has to survive in business or politics!
