The Telugu Desam Party, led by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has unveiled “super six” guarantees to appeal to voters ahead of the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
While the YSR Congress party wasted no time in targeting these promises, stating that the TDP lacks credibility in fulfilling pre-election promises, YSRCP general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy went further, likening the guarantees to cheap Chinese products, implying they won’t last long.
“With a history of backstabbing and lies, a present of opportunism & compromise to hijack power & a future of nothing but the same, TDP’s guarantees are no better than the guarantee of a cheap Chinese product. Once bought, you’ll never find the seller in the same place. Stop fooling AP,” he said, suggesting that Naidu is akin to a seller of these products who conveniently ignores promises once in power.
A couple of days ago, while launching the Sankhaaravam public meeting at Srikakulam, Naidu’s son and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh attributed the creation of the six guarantees to his father, with Pawan Kalyan introducing the Babu Super 6 manifesto.
The promises include: creating 20 lakh jobs for youth in 5 years with an unemployment allowance of Rs 3000 per month until then; providing Rs 15,000 annually to every school-going student; granting Rs 20,000 annually to farmers under the Anna Data scheme; distributing three free gas cylinders per year to each woman household; giving Rs 1500 per month through Aadabidda Nidhi to each woman above 18 years of age; and offering free travel for women on RTC buses.
YSRCP president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy countered Naidu’s promises, stating they are unrealistic given the estimated cost of Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
He pointed out that even the Navaratnalu scheme, which costs Rs 70,000 crore, is a challenge to fund, questioning where Naidu would source the funds.
