Former MP from Anantapur and senior Telugu Desam Party leader J C Diwakar Reddy, who has been lying low following a series of cases against him and his travel firm, is back in the news with his critical comments against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
On Thursday, Diwakar Reddy gave a piece of advice to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. He said it would be better the TDP did not contest the elections to the local bodies in the state, because they would be completely one-sided.
“The TDP leaders might have the support of people in their local areas, but they would not be able to win the elections because the ruling party would not allow them to win. Even if some opposition leader wins, he would be booked under one case or the other and thrown behind the bars,” JC said.
JC predicted that the local body elections would not be held in the near future, at least as long as Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar was in the chair of State Election Commission.
“Jagan’s plan is to bring Justice Kanagaraj back as the SEC after Nimmagadda’s retirement and ensure that all the MPTC and ZPTCs of his party elected unanimously,” he said.
He predicted that all the YSRC candidates who got elected unanimously in the past would be regularized and the opposition party candidates who filed nominations in the past would be forced to withdraw from the contest using the police.
The former MP also suggested that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government won’t have to conduct the elections to the local bodies, since in any case, only YSRC leaders would win the polls.
“Instead of wasting money on the elections, it is better Jagan nominates the party leaders in the local bodies,” he said.
