Supreme Court Cuts Avinash Stay By One Day

The Supreme Court issued a stay on the Telangana High Court's order granting a stay on the arrest of Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy until April 25 in the Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

The Supreme Court, while staying the Telangana High Court order, directed the CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy until April 24, when it hears the case fully.

The Supreme Court took up the petition filed by Vivekananda Reddy's daughter, Narreddy Suneetha Reddy.

Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha heard the petition on Friday and will complete the hearing on April 24.

Avinash Reddy filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Telangana High Court, on which the court directed the CBI not to arrest the MP until April 25.

The CBI had already arrested Avinash Reddy's father, Bhaskara Reddy, in the case, alleging that the father and son were prime accused in the murder as they conspired with the criminals.

However, Avinash Reddy and Bhaskara Reddy alleged that the CBI was toeing the TDP's line in the investigation.

Avinash Reddy alleged that the change of officers in the CBI, as per the instructions of the Supreme Court, did not help in the new team investigating the case independently.

Avinash Reddy also wondered why the CBI is not touching Suneetha Reddy's husband, Rajasekhar Reddy, who was informed first about the murder of Vivekananda Reddy and who possessed a letter allegedly written by Vivekananda Reddy in his last minutes.
