Super Six, a super flop: Sharmila

Super Six, a super flop: Sharmila

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila on Tuesday came down heavily on Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for reneging on the implementation of his Super Six guarantees promised to the people before the elections.

Taking to social media platform X, Sharmila said Naidu’s statement on Monday clearly indicated that the promises made under the coalition government’s "Super Six" appear to have met their end.

“Chandrababu Naidu's presentation before the media is a testament to his inability to implement the Super Six guarantees. Citing the NITI Aayog report, Naidu spoke of how schemes could only be implemented if there’s funding, emphasizing economic principles,” she said.

Sharmila ridiculed Naidu’s argument that in order to execute schemes, revenue needs to increase.

“His approach seems like tying a heavy stone to someone’s neck. The trust people placed in him by giving him power has been grossly betrayed,” she said.

The Congress leader alleged that Naidu had deceived 5 million farmers, betrayed 8 million students and misled 1.5 million women. He played with the lives of 5 million unemployed youth.

While claiming that there’s no financial feasibility for schemes and blaming the YSRCP government’s financial mismanagement, Naidu said the economic devastation caused by Jagan’s government is evident.

“Didn’t Chandrababu Naidu know about this devastation before making promises in the elections?” she asked.

Sharmila wondered why Naidu had not assessed the financial burden on the state evident during the planning of the "Super Six" schemes.

“You were the ones who stated that the state is under Rs 14 lakh crores in debt. It was you who promised to set things right within 100 days if the coalition was voted to power. But after getting votes, how fair is it to go back on promises and tighten the purse strings?” she asked.

Sharmila demanded that the chief minister stop finding excuses like the state’s debt and inability to borrow further. Focus on implementing the promised schemes.

“As a senior partner in the central government, pressure Prime Minister Modi to address the state’s financial woes and demand funds necessary for schemes,” she said.

She also demanded that as per NITI Aayog’s report, conduct a high-level inquiry into the financial irregularities during YSRCP’s five-year rule. Determine where the state’s revenue has been diverted.

“If the Centre does not release funds for the schemes, immediately withdraw support to the BJP,” she demanded.
