Not long ago, YSR Congress party MLA from Mylavaram Vasantha Krishna Prasad expressed disgruntlement over the “rowdy politics” in the party and dropped hints of defecting to the rival Telugu Desam Party.
He openly expressed unhappiness over the way MLAs and ministers from other constituencies, particularly Jogi Ramesh from Pedana, dictating terms to him and poking their noses in the Mylavaram constituency.
“Somehow, I am getting the feeling that I have made a mistake by entering politics and becoming MLA. I am not able to do politics of vengeance by taking a group of vagabonds along with me, like some of my colleagues are doing,” the MLA said.
“If I have to sustain in politics, I have to behave like a rowdy. That is why, I ended up being an old-time politician,” he said.
Even when senior YSRC leaders including MP Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, Marri Rajasekhar and Vellampalli Srinivas met Krishna Prasad to pacify him, he expressed reluctance to continue in the party.
His followers put up the posters of Nandamuri Balakrishna, actor and TDP legislator from Hindupur, along with those of the MLA for greeting the people of the constituency on the occasion of Sankranti festivities. They indicated that he might join the TDP because of his caste considerations.
As a last resort, the YSRC leadership invited Krishna Prasad to Tadepalli for talks, he relented a bit and came down to meet Jagan Mohan Reddy.
It is not immediately known what assurance he had got from the chief minister, the sulking MLA said he would continue in the party.
He declared that he would like to and feel proud of being the follower of Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said Jagan had asked him to remain in his team and would love to follow his party.
“If anybody violates the party line, disciplinary action would be taken against them,” he said.
Stating that he would be the life-term member of the YSRC Congress party and would never change the party. He declared that he would intensify Gadapa Gadapaku Prabhutvam programme very soon.
