Sulking ex-MLA says Naidu has hurt him

At a time when the TDP is hoping to win majority of seats in East Godavari district in the next assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, former MLA from Rajanagaram assembly constituency Pendurthy Venkatesh on Wednesday resigned from the post of party in-charge of the constituency.

Venkatesh told reporters that he was very much hurt with the attitude of TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who reportedly shouted at him for the poor performance of the TDP in Rajanagaram.

“On October 8, I posed a question to Naidu during the party review of the district. He did not respond to the same but a week later, he reacted wildly out of frustration. I have decided to quit the in-charge party post, as Naidu should not feel the party suffered in the constituency because of me,” he said.

Venkatesh said he had already suggested to the party leadership that it could appoint a new incharge for Rajanagaram long ago. But there was no response from the party.

“That is why I was terribly hurt due to Naidu’s attitude and hence, I have resigned from the in-charge post. I will continue to work for the party as an ordinary worker,” he said.

Though the former MLA said the TDP had bright chances of coming to power in the next assembly elections, it is learnt he may jump into the YSRC sooner or later.

“I was told the people are extremely happy with the Jagan government,” he said.

Sources said senior TDP leader and former minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu is talking to Venkatesh and pacify him.

He requested the ex-MLA not to take any hasty decisions and take back his resignation.
