Sulking Buddha Venkanna set to quit TDP?

Sulking Buddha Venkanna set to quit TDP?

Known for his aggressive character, senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former member of legislative council Buddha Venkanna is understood to have decided to quit the party sooner or later.

Venkanna, who is known for his open differences with Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani, has been sulking for quite some time for being ignored by the party leadership, which he feels is encouraging Kesineni family at the cost of genuine party workers.

Though TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has been making every effort to thrash out the differences in the party in Krishna district and bring the party leaders together, differences are surfacing regularly.

On Tuesday evening, the TDP’s extended executive committee meeting of combined Krishna district was held at Vijayawada, which was attended by all senior leaders in the assembly constituencies from the district.

However, some TDP leaders from Vijayawada (East) and Vijayawada (West) constituencies expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of respect to them at the meeting.

Buddha Venkanna was particularly angry as he could not find his picture on the flex board put up on the dais.

Though former minister Kollu Ravindra requested Buddha to come on to the dais, the latter refused to go up the dais and sat amidst the party workers in the audience. Ravindra came down from the dais and requested him to come up, but he refused.

After some time, Buddha, along with another senior TDP leader Nagul Meera, boycotted the meeting and left the hall. Though senior leader Varla Ramaiah tried to stop Buddha and Nagul Meera, they did not heed to his request.

This led to the talk that Buddha and Meera might be planning to quit the party and look for brighter opportunities.

Buddha, however, said he had no such plans and his sole objective was to see that Chandrababu Naidu would become the chief minister again.

He alleged that only some sections have been spreading the rumours that he was quitting the party. He said there was no truth in such reports and asserted that he would sail with the TDP till his last breath.
