At last, controversial anaesthetist Dr K Sudhakar, who had been languishing in the Visakhapatnam mental hospital for over two weeks after he created nuisance in the hospital in alleged inebriated condition, is going to be discharged shortly.
The Andhra Pradesh high court, which took up the case of Sudhakar being allegedly beaten up with his hands tied behind his back, arrested and shifted to mental hospital, completed hearing on a habeas corpus petition filed his mother Kaveri Bai and directed the hospital authorities to discharge him.
“Sudhakar can be discharged anytime and handed over to his relatives,” the court said and asked the doctor to cooperate with the CBI authorities for their investigation into the case.
The high court has handed over the case to the CBI and asked it to complete the investigation within a month.
The CBI, which is probing the case on the directions of the Andhra Pradesh high court, has registered a criminal case against Sudhakar also for allegedly creating nuisance on the road and manhandling the police constables and passers-by.
Simultaneously, the CBI authorities questioned the authorities of Narsipatnam municipal corporation, including municipal commissioner Krishnaveni. It was in this office that Sudhakar made wild allegations against the Jagan government on non-availability of masks in the hospital.
The CBI authorities would also question the hospital authorities and also local leaders before arriving at a conclusion.
