Subba Reddy to get extension as TTD chief?

Subba Reddy to get extension as TTD chief?

Senior YSR Congress party leader and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s maternal uncle Y V Subba Reddy is most likely to get extension for another term as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board, according to the sources close to the top leadership of the party.

Orders to this effect are likely to be issued in a couple of weeks, sources said.

Subba Reddy completed his two-year term on June 21 and with him all the members of the TTD trust board came to an end.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy government appointed a specified authority in place of the trust board with executive officer K S Jawahar Reddy as the chairman and joint executive officer A V Dharma Reddy as the vice-chairman.

According to the party sources, Jagan decided to continue Subba Reddy as the TTD trust board chairman, while planning to revamp the trust board.

However, Jagan might retain three people from the previous board – My Home Group chairman Jupalli Ramesh Rao, Infosys director Sudha Murthy and Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy, wife of YSRC MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy.

However, it appears Subba Reddy is not very much interested in continuing as the TTD chairman but wants to play an active role as a public representative.

It was evident from his comments while talking to media during his visit to Prakasam district on Sunday.

He said hitherto, he had been away from direct politics as he was serving as the chairman of TTD.

“I was happy with the service of Lord Venkateshwara in the capacity of TTD chairman. But now, I want to be in public service directly,” he said.

He regretted that despite being in the party for several years, he could not do anything for the people who stood by him and the party right from the beginning.

“I have not done justice to the party workers. So, I feel I would be able to serve the people and the party workers if I come back into the direct politics,” Subba Reddy said.

He said he had brought his thoughts and views to the notice of the chief minister and requested him to give an opportunity to return to direct politics.

“However, I will abide by whatever decision the high command will take,” the former TTD chairman said.

There was a talk that Subba Reddy wants to get into the state cabinet as a minister after becoming an MLC.

At the same time, there is another talk that he is insisting on Rajya Sabha ticket in 2022. In any case, the ball is in Jagan’s court!
