Strange complaint against Sai Reddy!

Strange complaint against Sai Reddy!

Now that the YSR Congress party is out of power, its senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V. Vijay Sai Reddy might be expecting to face cases of corruption or even defamation suits during the present Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh.

But to everyone's surprise, a complaint was lodged with senior IAS officer and Commissioner of Endowments S Satyanarayana by a person named Manipati Madan Mohan on Saturday, stating that his wife had become pregnant because of Sai Reddy.

According to the complaint lodged by Madan Mohan, his wife Kalingiri Shanti, who is currently working as an Assistant Commissioner of Endowments, became pregnant while he was on an extended leave abroad from January 21, 2022, to September 19, 2022.

“As per medical records, I discovered that she conceived on July 28, 2022, and finally gave birth to a male child on April 15, 2023. This clearly shows that she became pregnant through illegal and immoral means,” he said.

Initially, she told him that the boy was his child. He went back to the US and returned to India permanently in January 2024.

“After my return, I grew suspicious and started investigating the factors that led to her pregnancy,” he said.

Madan Mohan said after repeated questioning, Shanti gave different versions. First, she said she was made pregnant by Vijay Sai Reddy, then claimed she became pregnant through the IVF method, and later named a few more persons.

“When I went to Apollo Hospitals, the case sheets showed the name of one Pothireddy Subhash, a government pleader,” he said.

He expressed suspicion that either Vijay Sai Reddy or then government pleader Subhash might be responsible for his wife becoming pregnant.

He urged the Endowments Commissioner to order a DNA test on the child and the two accused to determine the father of his wife’s illegitimate child.

In fact, Shanti had faced several allegations of corruption during the YSRCP regime. In 2021, then Endowment Commissioner Hari Jawaharlal initiated disciplinary action against her for her unruly behavior with Deputy Commissioner E. Pushpavardhan.

Shanti created a stir when she threw sand at Pushpavardhan while he was holding a review meeting in his chamber.

The Endowment Commissioner then directed the Regional Joint Commissioner of Rajamahendravaram to inquire into the charges leveled against Shanti.

The RJC, in his report submitted to the commissioner, said Shanti had failed to discharge her duties as per the provisions of the act and rules.

There were allegations that Shanti, with her unruly behavior, failed to strike a chord with employees working in the district.

She failed to honor the instructions of higher authorities and encouraged the subordinate staff in committing financial irregularities while counting hundis, the report said.

However, she managed to avoid punishment, thanks to her connections with the then YSRCP leaders, sources said.
