Senior IAS officer J Shyamala Rao has been appointed as new executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in place of A V Dharma Reddy, who has been holding the post in full additional charge.
The 1997-batch IAS officer is presently working as principal secretary of the higher education department.
He had worked in various departments earlier, including municipal administration and urban development, health and family welfare, food and civil supplies, home and GAD.
He was also the managing director of AP Beverages Corporation before being shifted by the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government in June 2019.
Dharma Reddy, a senior Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) officer, who is considered a trusted lieutenant of YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, had been on deputation in the TTD as the executive officer since 2019.
Soon after Telugu Desam Party led by N Chandrababu Naidu came to power last week, Dharma Reddy went on a week-long leave, ahead of Naidu’s visit to the temple le on Wednesday.
He is expected to return on June 17, but even before his return, the Naidu government appointed Shyamala Rao.
Dharma Reddy, a 1991-batch Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) officer, has been on deputation to the TTD since 2019.
During the Y S Rajasekhar Reddy regime, too, Dharma Reddy had been on deputation to the TTD from 2005 to 2009. In the current term, his deputation was supposed to end on May 14.
But following a letter from Jagan Mohan Reddy in March, the Central government on April 27 approved the extension of his deputation up to June 30, which is also his date of his retirement on attaining the age of superannuation.
