It is an open secret that the biggest weakness of Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is his son, Nara Lokesh.
Though Lokesh has been proved a flop in politics, as he failed to win even a single direct election, Naidu still feels that his son is the only hope of Andhra Pradesh.
He is desperately trying to project Lokesh as the future CM of the state, though the latter has miserably failed to prove his worth.
Many TDP leaders say in their private conversations that it was because of Naidu’s blind love for his son Lokesh that the party is in such a bad shape.
The people still have faith in Naidu, but they are afraid of voting for the TDP because they feel Naidu may make his son as the next CM, they say.
However, the TDP leaders say there is still some hope for the party to bounce back, if Naidu takes a cue from Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at least now.
Early this month, KCR made an announcement that he would continue to lead the party for another 10 years and the government and there was no question of stepping down to make way for his son K T Rama Rao in the near future.
This has sent a strong message to the party cadres that KCR will be at the helm of the party for a long time to come and people will still believe him as the true leader of Telangana.
“Like KCR, if Chandrababu Naidu, too, can make a statement that he would continue to lead the party and would be the chief ministerial candidate of the TDP till his life time, it might send a positive message into the cadres as well as the people. He should tell the people that Lokesh will remain an ordinary party worker,” a TDP leader said.
In fact, one should not compare KTR with Lokesh. While KTR had won four elections and led the party from the front in the electoral battles, Lokesh was a failure.
Yet, KCR refuses to hand over the baton to his son, while Naidu is too eager to see Lokesh as the next CM!
