Sharmila puts up aggressive posture against Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila, who has been in neck-deep confrontation with her brother and YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy over property sharing, has been facing the charges of conspiring against him in collusion with Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

One of the reasons for this criticism is that all these days, she has been very aggressive in her attack on her brother and his government in the past, but adopting a soft approach towards the NDA government in the state headed by Naidu.

Most of the times, Sharmila has only been making suggestions to the Naidu government and at times, was even appreciating the initiatives taken by the chief minister. She even defended Naidu on a couple of occasions.

But now that Jagan has started accusing Sharmila of colluding with Naidu to see that his bail gets cancelled, she has decided to attack the NDA government in the state at least for the public consumption.

She accused the Naidu government of imposing heavy burden on the people by increasing the power tariff in the name of fuel surcharge adjustment.

“The chief minister is claiming credit for introducing three free LPG cylinders scheme on one hand, but on the other hand, he has imposed huge burden on the people in the name of power charges,” she said.

Sharmila pointed out that the government was claiming to be providing a relief of Rs 2,685 crore to the consumers in the form of three free LPG cylinders, but he has imposed a burden of over Rs 6,000 crore on them in the form of power tariff.

“So, in a way, Naidu is imposing a burden of Rs 3,000 crore on the people,” she criticised.

She also found fault with the Naidu government for throwing the blame on the previous Jagan government for the power tariff hike.

“If the Jagan government increased power tariff by nine times in five years, the Naidu government increased tariff once within six months of coming to power,” she criticised.
