All these days, there have been reports and speculations in the media about the marriage of Y S Raja Reddy, son of YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila and evangelist Anil Kumar.
The media have been writing about Raja Reddy’s relationship with Priya Atluri, granddaughter of Atluri Rama Rao, a former MLA and minister in Andhra Pradesh, who was associated with the Telugu Desam Party.
She is also the niece of Atluri Srinivas, a former MP and a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party. Needless to say, she is from an influential Kamma family. So, both Raja Reddy and Priya Atluri belong to affluent and influential families, with strong political and business connections.
But Sharmila has been keeping silent on these media reports, despite the fact that the pictures of the love birds were doing rounds on social media.
On Monday, however, Sharmila officially confirmed the relationship between her son and Priya Atluri, while wishing the people of the Telugu states on the occasion of the New Year.
“Wishing everyone a blessed 2024! Delighted to share the news of my son YS Raja Reddy’s engagement to his sweetheart Atluri Priya on January 18th, with their wedding set for February 17th, 2024,” Sharmila tweeted on X.
She said on Tuesday, she and other family members would visit YSR ghat at Idupulapaya, accompanied by the soon-to-be bride and groom, to present the first invitation card and seek Dad’s blessings.
It will be interesting to see whether she will also extend the wedding invitation to her brother Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and take her daughter and son-in-law to take his blessings at Tadepalli.
