The YSR Congress Party on Friday alleged that Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila has become a tool in the hands of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, aimed at diverting public attention from the failures of the state government.
Former minister and YSRCP leader Sake Sailajanath claimed that whenever the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) comes under political pressure, Sharmila conveniently appears in the media with diversionary statements — suggesting a deliberate pattern being used as a strategy.
He questioned why a state Congress president was targeting the opposition instead of holding the ruling party accountable.
"Is she working for the Congress or for Chandrababu Naidu?" he asked.
Sailajanath also criticized Sharmila for repeatedly bringing up the Vivekananda Reddy murder case while allegedly ignoring key facts and the manipulation of witnesses.
He claimed that attempts are being made to falsely implicate Y S Avinash Reddy and other YSRCP leaders, including MP P V Midhun Reddy.
He further questioned Sharmila’s political intentions, pointing to her party’s rise and fall in Telangana and her sudden re-entry into Andhra Pradesh politics.
“The people are watching. They can clearly see who genuinely works in the public interest and who is acting out of political convenience,” he said.
