Andhra Pradesh Congress president Y S Sharmila has intensified her criticism of her brother and YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, launching a scathing, no-holds-barred attack against him in the media.
Reacting to alleged social media attacks by YSRCP activists, Sharmila warned Jagan about the consequences if she chose to respond with personal attacks.
"If I start resorting to personal abuse, Jagan won’t be able to handle it. I won’t back down and will continue exposing his misdeeds during his tenure," she stated during a press conference on Wednesday.
She accused Jagan of razing the Rushikonda hills for personal luxury.
"It’s shameful that you wanted a sea view from your bathroom. Are you indulging in such luxuries with public money?" she questioned.
Sharmila also accused Jagan of failing to deliver on his promise of prohibition while allegedly profiting from alcohol sales.
She further criticized him for "looting in the name of Jalayagnam," neglecting fee reimbursement schemes, and selling Gangavaram Port to Adani for just ₹600 crore.
Raising the issue of Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, she asked, "Wasn’t Vivekananda Reddy a leader of the people? Who killed him? The CBI chargesheet mentions Avinash Reddy’s name, yet Jagan keeps him close."
Sharmila expressed outrage over derogatory social media posts targeting her.
"You didn’t stop those posts about me. Memes like ‘I will kill my brother, abandon my mother and sister’ are circulating. Yet, I haven’t made personal attacks against anyone," she said.
Additionally, Sharmila has written to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), urging it to cancel power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Adani Group, claiming they are detrimental to the state’s interests.
She alleged that in August 2021, during agreements between Adani and Andhra Pradesh state DISCOMs, Adani paid ₹1,750 crore in kickbacks to Jagan, a claim reportedly confirmed by an American investigative agency.
