Senior journalist Devireddy Srinadha Reddy has been appointed new chairman of Andhra Pradesh Press Academy.
According to sources, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has given the green signal for the appointment of Devireddy in the post, which has been lying vacant since the completion of term of Vasudeva Deekshitulu last year. Deekshitulu passed away in April this year.
A native of Kadapa district, Devireddy had worked in several newspapers in the district. For most of the time, he worked in Indian Express group, working for Andhra Prabha in Kadapa.
A contemporary of senior journalists like Devulapalli Amar and K Srinivas Reddy and a journalist union leader, Devireddy was very close to former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. And that was how he got into the good books of Jagan.
In fact, there was a talk that another senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, who has been working as an anchor in Sakshi television channel, had been shortlisted for AP Press Academy chairman. However, the chance has now gone to Devireddy.
May be, Kommineni is likely to get some other key position in the government. Similarly, there is a talk that Sakshi editor Vardhelli Murali is also likely to get appointed as political advisor in the chief minister’s office.
Let us see, how far these speculations will come true.
