Schemes not enough to bring YSRC to power again?

A slew of welfare schemes introduced by the YSRC Congress party government headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy are not enough to bring the party to power again for a second successive term in the next assembly elections.

This was the feedback apparently given by Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) to the Jagan government.

The I-PAC has been hired by the ruling YSRC to help it come to power again in 2024 assembly elections.

I-PAC team leader Rishi Raj Singh, who took charge of the party campaign for the next elections, gave a presentation to the party leaders at the workshop on Gadapa Gadapaku Prabhutvam programme of the Jagan government at Tadepalli camp office on Wednesday.

According to party sources, Singh told the party leaders that the welfare schemes being implemented by the Jagan government were getting appreciation in the lower strata of the society.

“But there is a widespread resentment among the youth and upper middle class sections towards lack of development in the state. The party and the government has to ponder over this aspect and take corrective actions in the next two years,” Singh reportedly told the meeting.

The I-PAC team leader has also brought to the notice of the party that the government should focus on developing the IT sector and also on encouraging the manufacturing sector, so that it would generate employment.

“It will also generate a positive talk about the government across the country,” Singh is learnt to have said.

He reportedly suggested pruning down or removing certain welfare schemes to reduce the burden on the state exchequer. There should be more focus on the developmental works that will generate goodwill among the people, he told the party.

The party is expected to discuss about the suggestion given by the I-PAC team in the coming days and come out with a concrete action plan.
