Of late, there have been several reports of alleged irregularities in the famed Lord Venkateshwara temple in Tirumala and its associated temples.
Right from missing jewellery of the Lord, digging of floor in temple kitchen (potu), making of laddus, irregularities in sale of arjitha seva tickets to retirement of senior priests – everything has become a big news in the media.
Added to this, the theft of three crows in Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati has also become a big news.
Now, there are suspicions over irregularities in sale of human hair as well.
Senior Congress leader and former Tirupati MP Dr Chinta Mohan, who has been waging a war against scandals in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, has alleged that there had been irregularities even in the sale of human hair.
Chinta Mohan said though there was heavy demand in abroad for the human hair particularly in Australia, the TTD was getting not much amount through the sale of human hair by public action.
Lack of transparency in the sale of human hair and purchases by TTD costing it dearly, he said.
He alleged that there could be black-marketing of human hair for commercial purposes.
He asserted that he would continue his fight against the TTD management till it completed overhaul its system ensuring accountability and transparency.
The Congress leader, who has been spearheading a fight against TTD on the gold and cash deposits, informed that he is conducting a meeting on May 22 on the irregularities in the the deposits.
Gopala Krishna Gandhi and Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee, the grand son and granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi would participate in the meeting, he said.
