The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain the petition of Telugu Desam Party leader and Andhra Pradesh assembly deputy speaker K Raghu Ramakrishna Raju seeking cancellation of bail granted to former chief minister and YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice B V Nagaratna and Justice Satish Chandra Mishra said there was no need for any separate hearing on Raju’s petition for the cancellation of bail granted to Jagan.
The bench noted that the Supreme Court's earlier verdict on cases involving MPs and MLAs is applicable here. As such the bail cancellation issue would be dealt by the CBI court in Hyderabad.
Additionally, the Supreme Court rejected the plea to transfer Jagan's cases to another state. It clarified that there is no need to transfer the cases, as they are already under the supervision of the Telangana high court in connection with Jagan's disproportionate assets cases.
The court has instructed the trial court to conduct a day-to-day hearing of the cases against Jagan and the High Court should continue its supervision, eliminating the necessity for transferring the cases to another state.
As a result, Raju’s counsel expressed the intent to withdraw the petition in the Supreme Court and instead, approach the high court, which the Supreme Court allowed.
Justice BV Nagarathna’s bench reiterated that there is no delay or oversight in the handling of these cases, as both the trial court and high court are actively involved.
