The unsavoury comments made by Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu attributing communal motives to him, Andhra Pradesh director general of police Gautam Sawang has decided to drag the former to the court.
Sawang declared that he would file a criminal case against the TDP president for instigating communal and regional passions among the people.
“We are consulting legal experts on how to go about it. We shall certainly book a criminal case against Naidu and all those who made hate speeches,” he said.
He alleged that Naidu was specifically targeting his (Sawang’s) region and community and making provocative comments.
“I never expected that Chandrababu Naidu, who had served as a chief minister for a long period, would talk so irresponsibly,” he said.
The DGP said he was terribly hurt with the comments of Naidu pointing out his Christian faith.
“In the past, he raised the issue of my nativity, stating that I was from north-eastern states. Now, he says there is no protection to the Hindus in Andhra Pradesh, since the chief minister, home minister and I hail from Christian community. This is nothing but igniting communal passions,” Sawang said.
He said the police were not going to spare anybody who instigated communalism in the state.
He suspected that there is a largescale conspiracy behind the series of incidents of attacks on temples in the recent past.
“It clearly shows some vested interests are planning to create law and order problems in the state. It is not the handiwork of thieves or miscreants. There appears to be a conspiracy angle in the incidents, as they all look more or less similar. There is no question of sparing anybody,” the DGP said.
