Sajjala Bhargav under Andhra CID scanner

The Crime Investigation Department of Andhra Pradesh police is said to have decided to begin the probe into the alleged malicious campaign against YSR Congress party social media wing in-charge Sajjala Bhargav Reddy, son of party general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.

The CID has registered a case against Bhargav a few days before the polling in the assembly elections in the state in May, following a direction from the Election Commission of India, acting on a complaint lodged by TDP politburo member Varla Ramaiah.

The allegations against Bhargav that he has been spreading malicious campaign against TDP president and present chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with regard to disruptions in disbursal of social security pensions.

Ramaiah further alleged that Bhargav and his team were making IVRS calls to the voters and to the pensioners, saying Naidu was creating hurdles in the pension distribution.

The YSRCP alleged that Naidu was responsible for causing hardships and delay to the beneficiaries of social security pension.

The TD leader Ramaiah mentioned in his complaint that such an act was tantamount to misleading the public by spreading false information and it was also aimed at promoting enmity and hatred among the groups. He also alleged criminal conspiracy and gross violation of mode code of conduct by such a false propaganda.

However, the CID did not take up the case seriously and there was no further development, even after Naidu came to power with a huge mandate in the elections.

Sources said the CID is likely to dig up the case again and initiate action against Bhargav shortly.

If the CID authorities really take up the case seriously, there is a possibility that Bhargav may be arrested shortly, sources said.
