Sai Reddy threatening Telangana police?

Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday accused YSR Congress party MP and general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy of threatening the Telangana police, who were curbing the ganja mafia indulging in smuggling of narcotics from Andhra to Telangana.

TDP spokesman and MLC P Ashok Babu strongly objected to Sai Reddy threatening to complain to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao against a Telangana police official for his recent statement on ganja smuggling from Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP leader took exception to Sai Reddy alleging that Nalgonda superintendent of police A V Ranganath had an affiliation with the TDP.

“How can he make such an irresponsible statement to demoralise and demotivate the police forces, despite being a responsible leader of a political party?” he asked.

He said it was a known fact that Araku valley in Andhra Pradesh was a haven for ganja. The top cops of Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have blamed AP as the source of ganja seized in their States.

“Reports were there about ganja being transported in coconuts from Araku valley in AP to different parts in the country,” he said.

Ashok Babu wondered whether Sai Reddy would lodge a complaint to the President of India against the Telangana chief minister also, as the latter announced that his government would put down the ganja mafia from Andhra Pradesh with an iron hand.

“Sai Reddy’s comments are indicating that they would target all those police officers who would dare to seize and arrest ganja and drug gangs,” he alleged.
