For the first time, YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday commented on the resignation of his close aide and former Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy from the party and the post.
Speaking to reporters, Jagan said credibility and integrity were most important in politics.
“Those who have left the YSRCP due to threats, fear or pressure have no personal integrity, credibility and respect. It applies to Sai Reddy as well,” he said.
Jagan said even if a few others want to leave the party, he won’t stop them as it is a question of their credibility and values in politics.
In a bid to put an end to the confusion in the party due to the resignation of prominent leaders like Vijay Sai Reddy, the YSRCP chief is gearing up to turn aggressive in the coming days and revitalise the party organisation.
He is devising fresh plans and is making strategic decisions that differ from his past approaches.
As part of his strategy, Jagan is attempting to boost YSRCP’s morale by inducting leaders who were once close to YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Some senior leaders who distanced themselves from Jagan after he left Congress to form YSRCP are now rejoining the party.
On Friday, several former Congress leaders are expected to officially join YSRCP in Jagan’s presence.
One of the key figures rejoining YSRCP is former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Shailajanath, who was a close associate of YSR. Speculation about his return had been ongoing for weeks.
It is reported that Jagan held discussions with Shailajanath in Bengaluru before finalizing his re-entry into the party. Additionally, a senior Congress leader from East Godavari is in talks to join YSRCP.
Reports suggest that Jagan has also been in discussions with three other leaders who previously worked closely with YSR.
These developments are being seen as part of Jagan’s strategy to counteract the opposition’s growing influence.
