YSR Congress party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy’s daughter Penaka Neha Reddy is all set to establish a private university in Visakhapatnam, which is going to be developed as the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh soon.
According to reports in a section of media, the university is expected to come up in 120-acres of land on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam.
The land was acquired a couple of years ago, when Sai Reddy was the in-charge of the ruling party in North Andhra.
Unconfirmed reports said the university would be set up by Aurobindo Group, of which Neha Reddy’s husband Rohit Reddy is a director.
It would be developed on international standards and would have a tie-up with 10 foreign universities having expertise in various fields.
Apart from regular curriculum, this private university of Neha Reddy would also have exclusive facilities for training in various sports and physical education.
“The university aims at the all-round development of students in various fields, apart from academics,” these reports said.
An opposition party leader alleged that the state government was deliberately targeting the GITAM University and creating panic among the students there, only to promote the proposed university of Sai Reddy’s daughter.
He pointed out that Neha Reddy had been purchasing lands in Visakhapatnam after his father was given the reins of north Andhra.
She had already acquired shares in big hotels like Radisson Blu resort and Bay Park hotel.
“She also acquired 70 acres of land at Madhurawada only in the last three years,” the opposition leader alleged.
