Sad Story Of Sand In Andhra Pradesh

Sad Story Of Sand In Andhra Pradesh

In 2019, the YSRCP came to power, which led to significant issues regarding sand availability due to policy changes.

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan quickly responded by organizing a rally for construction workers in Visakhapatnam, criticizing the YSRCP government.

While the YSRCP's sand policy had its flaws, builders faced minimal difficulties obtaining sand during that period, and prices remained stable.

However, dissatisfaction grew when the TDP alliance took charge in 2024.

TDP leaders systematically exploited existing sand stockpiles, resulting in losses worth crores across the country.

In response, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Lokesh introduced a free sand policy, which led to a depletion of sand reserves and a sharp increase in prices.

Despite various regulations and experiments, sand prices have continued to rise, making the promise of free sand seem like a mere joke.

Reports from East Godavari indicate that lorries are being loaded with wet sand to increase weight and profits. Corruption is rampant, with local MLAs allegedly receiving bribes.

Overall, sand remains largely unavailable in Andhra Pradesh, causing construction delays.

Pawan Kalyan, now serving as Deputy Chief Minister, has distanced himself from addressing public issues, leaving citizens to suffer the consequences.

Builders are now blaming the alliance government in Andhra Pradesh for this unfortunate sand crisis.
